When is a CDI suggested for using?

This situation often arises in complex scenarios where the preferred mode of communication may not be fully understood by an interpreter who relies solely on standard interpreting techniques. In contrast, situations that involve consumers using standard signs and gestures or those who only have a hearing impairment typically do not necessitate the specialized skills that a CDI brings to the table. For instances where the consumer is communicating with hearing individuals, the standard interpreter can usually provide adequate support as long as the communication needs are straightforward and can be met through familiar modalities.
